TENNIS
Tennis is a sport you can play in singles or in pairs on the field of certain
dimensions devided by net. Tennis courts is 23.77 m long, 8.23 m wide for a game
of singles, and 10.97 m for a game of doubles. The net is 1.07 m high at the ends,
and 91.4 cm in the middle. Each half of the field is divided into two parts: the
part closer to the net is 6.40 m long and the ball must drop in on service -
if a player serves from the right, ball must fall within the left side of the
field closer to the opponent's net.
The basic rule in tennis is to slip the ball in the
opponents part of the terrain so that the opponent fails to return after one rebound.>br>
Tennis points are counted by 15 to win the first two points, 10 for third. To win a game a
must win at least 40 + a game. If both opponents get to 40, the situation is called 'deuce',
and then winning the next point is called 'advantage'. To win a game in tennis, it is necessary to
win at least two games more than the opponent. For the duration of a game the same player serves.
Set in tennis is won when you win 6 or 7 game's on condition that the opponent took no more than 4 or 5.
If opponents get to 6 gemes 'tiebreak' is played - two reciprocating serves until winning at least 7
points on condition that the opponent took at least 2 less.
Tennis dates back to the 19 th century and the rules of tennis have changed very little since 1890.
In 1970. the 'tiebreak' was introduced, because sometimes the match lasted several
hours because of the rule of winning by two games in a set. Latest additions is the possibility
for a player to request (maximum of two times in a set wrongly) tv-check out. (Ball fell out of the ground).
Tennis is a very popular sport in the world.
